Pro Football Pathway

🪜

Guidance on progressing toward a professional career — how to get on the pro ladder.

A session on what it actually takes to progress toward a professional football career — academy pathways, breaking into a first team, the option of a student-athlete route through American college football, balancing football with education, and what all of that looks like when you're also managing Type 1 Diabetes.

This one draws on Ellen's whole journey. Millfield boys' football, then Bristol City's academy from the U14s through to the first team, a WSL debut at 17 while still doing A-levels, a move to the University of Colorado as a student-athlete, a diagnosis at 19 — and a professional contract with Leicester City less than a year later. Since then: three seasons and 54 appearances for Sunderland, senior caps for Wales, an FA Cup hat-trick, and a First Class Honours degree and a Masters completed alongside all of it. It's a real route, not a theoretical one.

This topic can be booked as part of either an online coaching call or a face-to-face session — choose whichever format works best for you when booking.
